5. University of Sussex

The University of Sussex drops back to fifth in the South East this year, perhaps due to a low score for Student Satisfaction. It does, however, top the region for Facilities Spend, and top ten-rated courses include Drama, Dance & Cinematics. The university campus is set within Stanmer Park on the outskirts of Brighton. Designed by famous architect Sir Basil Spence, it includes the Grade l listed Falmer House (complete with moat) and the striking Meeting House.

Sussex is a short jaunt from the city of Brighton and Hove, and is set in the South Downs national park. Students can enjoy the fast paced and frenetic nature of Brighton but with easy access to quieter areas, and a good old fashioned day by the seaside.
