The University of Edinburgh Clearing

The university is at the heart of the city of Edinburgh. Regularly voted one of the most desirable places to live in the world, Edinburgh is large enough to offer something for everyone but small enough to feel like home.

• Edinburgh is well known for its festivals, including the internationally famous Edinburgh Fringe – a month-long arts festival that takes place each summer.
• The city is home to the National Galleries of Scotland, National Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Botanic Gardens.
• The city also boasts two major football clubs (Hibs and Hearts), Murrayfield rugby stadium, three golf courses, an Olympic-size swimming pool, and an artificial ski slope.
• The Students' Association offers an array of bars, shops, cafes and entertainment venues right on campus.
• A single day in Edinburgh could see you hillwalking in the morning, lazing on the beach in the afternoon, and enjoying the treasures of the medieval lanes by night.

• The Students' Association supports over 400 student-led societies and volunteering groups, ranging from a cappella to yoga.
• Venues deliver award-winning food and drink, and hundreds of events throughout the year, from language cafes to silent discos.
• The Advice Place gives free, professional, impartial and confidential support on studies, wellbeing, accommodation and finance.

• Edinburgh is a compact city. Travel to all campuses can be done on foot, by bike or by public transport.
• Edinburgh is one of the UK's greenest cities, with an extensive cycle route network plus reliable bus and tram services.
• E-bikes are available to hire across Edinburgh, with hire points at Central Area, King's Buildings and Pollock Halls campuses.
• Glasgow can be reached in as little as 45 minutes, while Aberdeen, Newcastle and York are within 2.5 hours by train.
• The airport is about 8 miles from the city centre. The 30-minute journey can be made via airport bus, tram, or by taxi.

• Departments within the university offer paid work experience to students via the Employ.ed on Campus internship programme.
