- Suffolk is home to numerous arts, literary and music festivals including Latitude Festival in Southwold and Ipswich Music Day.
- Many nightclubs in Ipswich offer student nights. Ipswich has developed a thriving, varied music scene with opportunities for new bands to play in smaller venues.
- Cultural experiences can be found at Ipswich's theatres, from innovative production to an eclectic selection of amateur shows, along with major touring acts.
- Sports can be enjoyed at Portman Road, the home of Ipswich Town FC, and there’s a dry ski slope for those looking for something a little different.
- Elsewhere, the seaside resorts of Felixstowe in the south, Lowestoft in the north and Great Yarmouth just over the Norfolk border, offer all the fun of traditional piers.

- Athena Hall is the on-campus halls of residence on the Ipswich Waterfront. It offers 590 rooms, all with en suite showers.
- Athena Hall is managed independently by Collegiate AC. On the ground floor is a café and pharmacy, with local shops close by.
- The accredited accommodation scheme lists off-campus properties which are privately owned and managed.
- Accredited accommodation includes purpose-built halls-style accommodation (49–88 beds) and shared student houses (4–16 beds).
